Visiting

A working parish church, open daily for Mass and prayer.

Our Lady of Grace is first and foremost a place of worship. Mass is celebrated every day, the church is open before and after Masses for private prayer, and entry is always free. Visitors come to pray, to remember, and to see one of the earliest reinforced concrete churches in England; all three are good reasons.

The simplest introduction to the parish is a Sunday Mass. The 10.00 am Mass includes Children's Liturgy and draws the most families; the 12.00 noon Mass is sometimes a Sung Mass. Newsletters and information leaflets are in the porch.

After the 10.00 am Mass on most Sundays, refreshments are served in the Parish Hall. Stay and meet the community.

What to expect on a Sunday

Mass lasts a little under an hour. Come as you are; no booking is needed. Visitors who are not Catholic are welcome to come forward for a blessing during Holy Communion, approaching the altar with arms folded across the chest.

The 10.00 am Mass is the busiest of the week and the most family-friendly. Children may go to Children's Liturgy after the opening prayers and return at the Offertory. Babies and young children are always welcome at any Mass.

Hymn books and Mass sheets are provided. The order of Mass is also available in many parish missals you can borrow from the porch.

Visiting mid-week

The church is generally open before the 9.15 am weekday Mass for private prayer. Mass is celebrated Monday to Saturday at 9.15 am. The Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament takes place on Sundays at 9.15 am, before the 10.00 am Mass.
